Furrukh Malik, MD, FACC

Dr. Malik has been a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) for over 25 years. Formally trained in advanced Heart failure and transplantation, he is currently faculty at Vanderbilt School of Medicine and is a heart failure transplant cardiologist at Vanderbilt University hospital.

He is actively involved in clinical as well as biochemical research at Vanderbilt. His area of interest is neurohormonal and inflammatory markers in advanced heart failure. He has over eighty publications in Peer- reviewed journals.

He is also actively involved in preventive aspect of cardiology and currently serves as Co-chair Food is Medicine task force of the ACC Board of Governors. In that context he is working on impact of food on protective microbiome in high-risk South Asian population.

He has active interests in health care informatics/digitization of records and Artificial intelligence interfaces in medical education/healthcare delivery and decision making.

He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Association of Pakistani descent Physicians of North America, (APPNA), a nonprofit organization that represents several thousand Physicians of Pakistani origin in North America. At APPNA his portfolio includes regulatory and compliance requirements of Nonprofits.

Dr Malik will serve the Term of Governor Acc TN through March 2027.
